John Guilford's Hikes
Barclay Lake on 1992-06-21

Out: 4:30 2180
This is a short (2-mile) flat easy hike. We took it since we didn't have
a lot of time. The drive out is longer than I remembered (it is past Index
and a couple miles down a dirt road). It is an easy hike and I wore shorts
and sandals (which is the first time in a long time I've gone any distance
with sandals on) and it was fine. The hike is mostly in the shade and that
kept the heat down for the most part. There were hardly any bugs, though a
couple flies came by at the lake. At the lake we stopped for a bit and had
some gorp and I followed the signs to the out-house (it gets enough use
that they have some 'facilities' there). I was expecting a real out house,
whereas, all they had was a short box you could sit on (no enclosure) so I
ended up just using a tree. Due to time constraints (Pam had to be back by
6 or so) we couldn't stay very long which was too bad.
