John Guilford's Hikes
Wallace Falls on 1993-10-24
Date: 1993-10-24
People: (including myself): Pam, E.B., Kendra Becker
Start: 3:35
First Bridge: 4:15
Out: 5:10
Wallace Falls was a longer hike than I remembered. We got there late and
didn't have time to go too far. It had rained the previous day, and I was
a bit concerned that the trail by the river would be muddy, but it wasn't
in bad shape. I was especially surprised due to the number of people
(large) that were there.
Initially I had left my camera in the van and noticed that about 100
yards down the trail (under the power lines). I jogged back to get it, and
then caught up with the girls. We went out via the trail near the river
and got as far as the first bridge (which doesn't have any view of the
falls) before we reached our turn around time. This is the place where the
railroad grade trail and the river trail meet (from here on, it is just the
river trail). On the way back we decided to take the railroad grade trail.
