We parked at a small lot at the trailhead off of Davis Rd in Ladysmith.
A short climb up a small connecting road puts you at the power lines and
the trail proper.
For Stocking Lake, you turn left and follow the trail/power lines to
Thetis Dr. Here we made a mistake. There is an access trail that
continues to follow the power lines. We thought this was the trail we
were supposed to be on and followed it almost a half mile before deciding
we were in the wrong place and backtracking. The correct route is to
take a right (uphill) on Thetis Dr a short distance to where the real
trail continues south.
The trail then starts climbing up the hillside towards Heart/Stocking
Lakes Regional park.
At the top of the hill, we found a gated off trail with a no-trespassing sign
that we believe leads to Stocking Lake. Instead, we continued on the
trail where it wound back and into the Regional Park for a short distance
before turning around and retracing our steps.
