John Guilford's Hikes
Holland Creek Trail, Ladysmith, B.C. on 2017-04-18

Location: Holland Creek Trail, Ladysmith, B.C.
People: (including myself): Pam
Alt. Miles
Trailhead: 2:20 130 0
Top of Loop: 3:20 400 1.7
Trailhead: 4:20 130 3.5
We started at the trailhead near the lower end of Holland Creek just
as we had the previous year. This is on Dogwood Dr (take N Davis Rd off
route 1 to a right on Dogwood past the golf course and ball field to
trailhead on the left). When coming from the north, it might be better
to use the trailhead near the RCMP on 6th Ave. To get there, take the
Roberts St exit from route 1 to where it ends T-ing into 6th. Take a
left for 6 blocks, past the RCMP to the trailhead parking.
On this hike, we didn't bother with the lower loop between Dogwood Dr and
route 1. We cross Holland Creek on Dogwood and started the trail
going counter clockwise this time.
On the way back down the south side of the creek we witnessed a tree
toppling up the hillside from us. It was rather strange as it wasn't
windy or stormy, though the ground was very wet from much recent rain.
