Twenty minutes from the start we arrived at the "stone stairs" and started climbing straight up the hillside.  Another half hour brought us to the overlook which we skipped this time due to an obviously angry man yelling into his cell phone at the overlook. 

Not long after that we arrived at the lake which was prettier this time (in the sun) than it had been the previous year (in the rain). 

We headed around the lake to the right.  In a number of low places it was filled with water, and we had to go around a bit.  The worst was after we got out on the logging road when the puddle was so large we had to make a sizeable detour through the slash before returning to the road. 

With the recent rainy weather, there were quite a number of little creeks and cascades coming down the hillside.
