With it being a Monday, I wondered how full the parking would be.
The weather was gorgeous though a bit smokey/hazy and a bit warm.
I was a bit surprised
to find the lot about 1/2 to 2/3 full. So I had no problem parking unlike
the previous time I was here when we got close to the last spot.
The trail up was peaceful and quiet. I didn't come across many other hikers.
There wet and muddy places, especially near the bottom.
I wore shorts and a tee shirt which was the right choice as the temperatures
to up to the mid to upper 70s and it was a bit sweaty going up, especially
in the sunny stretches.
I passed several trail crews who were working on improving the trail.
There were quite a few new drainage channels dug across the trail.
Good work guys!
Towards the upper slopes, the trail breaks into a clearing (old rock slide)
with views into the valley including Liberty Mountain across the river.
At the lake, views of the north slope of Mt. Pilchuck was somewhat hazy
and not so picturesque. The trail tends to have people go around the lake
clockwise, so I went counter-clockwise.
On the far side where we found a nice rock in
the shade to have a snack. I then continued around the lake and headed down.
