Saturday May 7: Lugo

Friday May 6: Leave Boston

Intro

The adventure is beginning. Sam and I are sitting at a restaurant at Logan Airport. We have a few hours to kill before our flight, and Sam was hungry.

As is par for the course for me, I slept really poorly last night, and I was feeling very stressed this morning. The drive in was quick and uneventful. We got out at the curb, and Amy drove the Tesla home.

I'm feeling a bit more relaxed now, but I don't think that I'll really settle down until we're in Spain and done with the traveling. The outbound leg is almost optimized for lack of sleep. We are leaving Boston at 5:20pm. We should be arriving in Madrid around 12:30 Boston time. This is going to make it very difficult to sleep on the flight over. Then we have a 4-5 hour layover before we fly up to Santiago. That will be during the early morning over there, so I doubt I would get much sleep there.

A thought that I had this morning is that we should have planned this trip for all three of us, and then have Amy just take a taxi from location to location instead of walking. Unfortunately it is way too late to act upon this idea.

Here is a rough map of the portion of the Camino that we are walking. The numbered circles are where we are staying. The first night is in Lugo, well off of the Camino. Then we travel to Sarria, where we'll start. Then we have four relatively long days of walking, and a final short day to hopefully arrive in Santiago in time for the noon pilgrim's Mass.
