Saturday December 16: Arrive in Paris

Friday December 15: Boston

The Adventure Begins

Another adventure begins. We’re sitting in Terminal E with about two hours to go before our flight starts to board. The thousand dollar question is how much sleep we’ll be able to get on the flight (it leaves about 9pm and arrives about 9am).

So far, the trip is not starting very auspiciously. The “purpose” of this cruise is to visit the Christmas Markets in Germany. This morning, we got an email from Viking saying that due to how late in the season this trip was occurring, almost half of the Christmas Markets we were supposed to be visiting would be closed, and that alternate activities were being planned.

We were *not* impressed. It isn’t like they didn’t know when the trip was going back when they planned it. They didn’t realize these things until the day we were leaving???

We got to the airport with plenty of time to spare/kill. When we got to the security line, it wasn’t clear where the TSA-pre line was. The guy directing people pointed us towards one line, but when we got to the X-ray machine, we found out that this was the normal line, and the guy sort of asked, “What are you doing over here? You should be over there.” So we had to take laptops out, etc., but at least we got to keep our shoes on.

Now it is just a matter of killing time before it is time to board, and then trying to get as good of sleep as we can while sitting mostly upright in a plane seat.

We had an early “dinner”, about 4pm. We weren’t really hungry, but the van pickup was at 5pm (it actually showed up at 4:50). I’m not sure if they are going to be feeding us dinner on the flight since it is leaving so late, but the plan is not to be hungry until tomorrow morning.
