Epilogue: Final Thoughts
Next time pay more attention to the dates of travel. In this case, we probably should have realized that there would be issues with the Christmas Markets as we were traveling through Christmas itself. Viking should have warned us that we might want to consider an earlier trip, but we should have done due diligence ourselves.
Notes: I wore a pair of jeans on most of the trip, but it was nice to have a pair of semi-dress pants to put on for dinner. Likewise, I mostly used my heavy fleece shirt, but I changed into something slightly lighter on the boat.
Also, one needs to check on weight limits for carry-on bags. They might not check it, but perhaps they might. I think I got caught by this when we returned from Iceland. My guess is that leaving big airports is not an issue, but it might be an issue when leaving small airports.
I think in the future, I’ll stick to cruises in the summer or late spring or fall. It is nice to be able to walk around on deck or spend time there without a heavy jacket.
For future trip planning: I took the large blue rectangular suitcase. I took the older carry-on bag, but the zipper is getting flakey. It is probably better to take one of the newer ones.
